Assuming you don’t want or can’t upgrade to Windows 11 then although Windows 10 has run out of time, you can extend support for up to 3 years. Some organizations may need to pay but home users can get at least the first year free of charge.

I have recently updated my main Windows 11 PC to 25H2 without too much hassle.

However the requirements have changed a little form what you may expect Additionally to the CPU meeting the original minimum requirements for running Windows 11 for 25H2 it will need to support a new feature called SSE 4.2 CPU instruction set.

Windows 11 23H2 update, expected in the latter part of the year, has quite a few updates and possibly a strange code name (ZINC). So if you would lie a quick run down, without the ads we seem to get more of now on YouTube, read on.

A quote from Top Gun maybe, but many broadband providers are offering superfast connections these days. So why are we not noticing it? A nice addition in the lasted update is the News & Interests button at the righthand side of taskbar. Here it is showing the weather on the button.

Unfortunatly, because it pops up when the pointer moves over it it can be a bit distracting. It can also cause a problem on some computer configurations.

Do your online banking and shopping on your ‘phone or a secure PC.

Windows 11 Install
There are a few scam downloads for Windows 11 installation media, so best avoided. However, techies will want to install the new OS to test it and the best way to do this, the only way currently according to Microsoft, is to install Windows 10 and then join the Windows Insider Program.
I have tried using a Virtual PC and it isn’t very useful, so I got another SSD for my main PC, installed Win 10 on it and joined the program.

I was amazed to find out that not everyone knows about using shift click on items on the Windows taskbar. This has been around since Windows 7 and I find it most useful.
It works on the vast majority of Windows Applications.
